This week has been a bit crazy around here. What with the launch of ZENworks 11 and all. However, since today is Veterans Day, I wanted to recognize the fine men and women who have served this country in uniform. Trust me; there are no finer people.
I learned this firsthand, while working with the IT professionals at the Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command. NCDOC for short. One of several military cyber defense teams in the Department of Defense, NCDOC’s primary mission is to maintain the security of the U.S. Navy’s networks—critical to the safety of the country.
When NCDOC personnel were experiencing data overload from an increasing number of cyber security sensors and corresponding alerts, IT managers there assembled what they termed PROMETHEUS. It’s a suite of tools that automates monitoring, reporting and thwarting of malicious network activity. A key component of PROMETHEUS is Novell Sentinel™—our WorkloadIQ security information and event management (SIEM) solution.
Novell Sentinel helps the IT professionals at NCDOC centralize and automate security monitoring across hundreds of security sensors, including firewalls, intrusion protection systems and other security-related systems around the world. By integrating its capabilities, Novell Sentinel gives NCDOC personnel a real-time, holistic view of all network activities, which they can then use to prioritize threats and focus on what’s most critical.
I’ll tell you one thing: Having met and worked with some of America’s best, and knowing Novell Sentinel is standing guard, I sure sleep better at night. Again, my thanks to all those who currently serve their country and those who have served in the past.

I now know finally quitting can be very hard. I introduced myself to cancer sticks while I was in my teens. It was the biggest mistake I’ve made. Now I’m older and I have bronchitis. I tried a huge number of the quitting products and yet none did the trick. My final try is a smokeless cigarettes e-juice review in the end.
