Will Bill Gates Do a Brett Favre?

Does Microsoft need a new quarterback? Many people think the play-calling coming out of Redmond has become a little too predictable. It may be time to call Microsoft’s golden boy out of retirement.

In early December, I made my list of 10 predictions for 2011. Unlike many year-end soothsayers who make over-the-top predictions and run, I’m going to stand behind mine and check back on some from time to time.

The Consumer Electronics Show (the world’s largest tradeshow) produced an interesting development regarding one of my 2011 prophecies in which I predicted that Bill Gates would return to Microsoft: “Much like Steve Jobs returned to Apple when innovation within the company waned, Bill Gates will be asked to help get Microsoft back on the leading edge.”

Apparently, the crowd is getting restless. Don Reisinger, a freelance technology columnist, pulled no punches in his January 11th eWeek.com analysis of Microsoft’s vision and performance, revealed during Steve Ballmer’s CES keynote address. The article is titled Enterprise Applications: Steve Ballmer’s CES Performance Proves He Needs to Go: 10 Reasons Why.

Many people feel that Microsoft could use more innovation and better execution in its game plan. Should Gates make a comeback, it would fire up the entire IT industry and could only bring good things to cloud computing and intelligent workload management.

Hmm it looks like your website ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any recommendations for inexperienced blog writers? I’d genuinely appreciate it.

Hello! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could find a captcha plugin for my comment form? I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having difficulty finding one? Thanks a lot!
